My 9 year old son and I stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights and 3 days for a Steelers game. It is in a great location, walking distance from all the major stadiums. If you do not have a car, every morning taxis are lined up downstairs and you can just grab one on your way out. The staff was really plesant. I loved the rooms! They were comfy and clean. If you are looking for a hotel in the Oakland area, this hotel isn't the best choice. Oakland ( where the University of Pitt and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh are located) is not in walking distance but you can still take a 20 min cab ride. This is my hotel for when I visit Pittsburgh!

I traveld to Pittsburgh with my 9 yearl old son for a Steelers game. This hotle is in a great location for the sports fan. If you are going to see a college, NFL or baseball game, all the stadiums are in walking distance. Oakland ( where the University of PItt and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh are) is about a 20 min car ride away but def not in walking distance. If you are not driving, there are cabs that wait downstairs everyday that you can grab on your way out. The room was really nice! Me and my son watched the college game in the room because it was so comfortable to just hang out in!

A little pricey, but well worth it for the great views of the three rivers at night!

I attended here for a conference over the 4th of July, 2010. While there was construction in the area, and the Three Rivers Regatta was going on, and the Phillies were in town to play the Pirates, the Hilton was very nice. The staff were quite friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The king room I had wasn't all that roomy, but sufficient for my needs. There was plenty of space to stash my clothes. There was no in-room refrigerator, but there was a coffeemaker with a good assortment of coffees and teas. The Hilton is a fair piece from the DL Lawrence Convention Center (6-7 blocks), and took me about 15 minutes walk either up Fort Duquesne Blvd. or Penn Avenue. The hotel shuttle does not run after 10 p.m. (a definite minus when one's conference lets out at 10 p.m.), but its driver was very friendly. Yes, room service and the onsite restaurant were rather expensive, but it is to be expected for a downtown hotel. The Sunday breakfast buffet (with made to order omelets) cost $*.

  • Good, but in the midst of construction area

Excellent location to explore downtown and walk to PNC Park. Room was very small and bathroom was tight, but both were immaculately clean and nicely appointed. The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable. The view of Point State Park, the 3 rivers, and Mt. Washington was absolutely fantastic from 20th floor window! Check-in was fast and check-out was even faster. Service in the restaurant was very friendly and food was good if not inspiring. Take-out service at the bar was fast and friendly. Housekeeping was very good. The hotel was packed with baseball fans, but it was quiet in the hallways and we didn't hear any undue noise. The hotel appears to be very family-friendly and accommodating to children, and guests we encountered appeared to be enjoying themselves. The one complaint is that there is so much construction going on in the area that it is difficult to traverse the sidewalks and front outside area of the hotel, and there was a constant traffic jam of vehicles at the entrance. This is not a luxurious hotel by our standards or by the standard of some of the Hiltons we have stayed in, but it was clean, convenient, friendly, well-located, and we had no problems with anything pertaining to our 2-night stay on a holiday weekend. We would recommend this hotel, and we'd give it a higher rating if all the construction outside were completed.
